Whether you call it the Iowa Show Circuit or still refer to it as the “7-Day-Run,” AQHA competitors will agree that the event held in Des Moines, Iowa each year draws one of the largest crowds of competitors to America’s Heartland. In fact, in 2013, the Iowa Show Circuit was ranked as the second largest AQHA show circuit in the country.
This year, the event began on May 31st with a Special Event Western Pleasure and Trail show that was judged by Vicki Radtke. On June 1st, an All Novice show was judged by Tom Crowley. The show will continue through June 7th with the remaining six AQHA-approved shows and judges including Chris Baldwin, Dean Bogart, Rick Christy, Casey Devitt, Jim Dudley, Suzy Jeane, Stephanie Lynn, Rob Meneely, Mark Sheridan, Russ Smith, Lance Treptow, and Karen Watters.
Show staff member, Kris Moorman, was able to provide our readers with results from the Special Event, All Novice Show, and Show #2, and Show #3. Stay tuned for more to come. She spoke briefly about the outstanding turnout and number of new faces being seen around the fairgrounds.
“It’s a great show again this year with 600 stalls, a new three-day format, 24 trade show vendors, and lots of new exhibitors,” Moorman says.
The All Novice Show cranked out impressive, early, entry numbers like 29 in Showmanship All Ages Novice Youth, 32 in Showmanship All Ages N/A, 26 in Novice Amateur Walk Trot, 37 in Western Pleasure All Ages Novice Amateur, and 32 in Horsemanship All Ages Novice Amateur. Congratulations to the class winners at this huge Novice Show including…
The winner of a 42 entry Senior Trail class during the Special Event show was Scott Allen Reinartz with My Bar Passer for Miya Childers. The winner of a 29 entry Green Trail was Koleene Herlocker with So Blazin Im Amazin for Jess Albion Bergantzel.
Entries have remained consistent and even increased for some classes during the remaining regular schedule AQHA shows. Erika Fisher showed Radical McCue to a win in a 34 entry Showmanship All Ages Novice Youth class. Dean Saul rode Putadrinkinmyhand to a first place finish in a 43 entry Green Trail class. Rick Adkins rode Classic Deesire to a win in a 48 entry Senior Trail. Cynthia Cosentino rode Only Yours to a win in Select Western Pleasure with 29 entries.
When competitors are done showing for the day, many head over to Diamond Jacks Food and Spirits, that’s located on the show grounds, for some refreshment, rest, and relaxation!
