A Day at the Kentucky Derby With Robin Robinett

In case you missed any of the action, here’s a brief recap. The day was all about firsts for the DAP (Dumb Ass Partners) partnership that owns the powerful chestnut colt that crossed the finish line 1 3/4 lengths ahead of the field, California Chrome.
- The horse’s 78-year-old trainer, Art Sherman, became the oldest trainer to win the Kentucky Derby.
- California Chrome is the first California-bred horse to win the Derby since 1962.
- This was his owner’s first trip to Kentucky and the Derby.
- This was California Chrome’s first time racing outside of California.
The group is hoping to achieve another first over the next few weeks. If California Chrome can accomplish the feat of winning the Triple Crown, he would become the first horse to do so since Affirmed in 1978. Will he do it? You’ll just have to stay tuned to see…
