NRHA press release by: Christa Morris – The National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) congratulates its newest Two Million Dollar Rider, Mandy McCutcheon, for unofficially becoming the first non pro and first female rider to earn the designation. Most recently McCutcheon won her sixth National Reining Breeders Classic (NRBC) Non Pro Championship and earned reserve champion honors at the Kentucky Reining Cup.
At the 2014 NRBC, McCutcheon piloted Ms Whiz Dunit (Topsail Whiz x A Bueno Poco Dunit) to a score of 220.5 for first. She also tied for fourth place on Customized Gunner (Colonels Smoking Gun x Custom Made Dunit) and won eighth place on Shiney Enterprise (Smart And Shiney x My Royal Enterprise). McCutcheon and Ms Whiz Dunit came off of a successful 2013 winning championships at the NRHA Futurity and Southwest Reining Horse Association Futurity.
During the Kentucky Reining Cup, McCutcheon competed in the Adequan/USEF Open Reining National Championship and Selection Trial for the 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games U.S. Reining Squad. Over two rounds of competition, McCutcheon tallied an overall score of 449 to clench reserve championship honors and to become the first woman to ever represent the United States at a Reining World Championship. To make the win even more special, she was aboard her father Tim McQuay’s 10-year-old American Quarter Horse stallion Yellow Jersey (Wimpys Little Step x Ms Clara Melody) for the final dollars needed to reach the milestone.
