The Virginia Horse Industry Board has granted $6,000 toward Futurity payouts for the 2013 VQHA Breeders Futurity, which is scheduled for August 24-25 in Doswell, VA.
The VQHA will sponsor and manage the VQHA Breeders Futurity Show. It will be VQHA, MSQHA and AQHA approved for points. The following 14 Virginia Bred Futurity classes will be available: Weanling Colts & Geldings, Weanling Mares, Yearling Stallions, Yearling Mares, Yearling Geldings, Yearling Longe Line, 2 & 3 Year Old Hunter Under Saddle, Maturity Hunter Under Saddle, Non-Pro All-Age Hunter Under Saddle, 2 & 3 Year Old Western Pleasure, Maturity Western Pleasure, Non-Pro Western Pleasure, All-Age Reining, and All-Age Trail.
These classes are restricted to horses foaled in Virginia and owned by Virginia residents. The stallion must be nominated. Twenty percent of winnings will be awarded to the person paying the stallion nomination fee of $300 for any offspring that places in the Virginia Bred Futurity Class. This can be someone other than the stallion owner with permission. Any stallion is eligible that is registered with the American Quarter Horse Association or Jockey Club.
