EC Photo of the Day – Utter Shock

This is Rachel Smit with No Time For Kisses, a horse she explains she bought for close to nothing in 2021 because no one would ride him.

“I took him on as a project that was just downright hard most of the time. Blood, sweat, and lots of tears,” she says. “Then we had an accident where he tripped and fell, breaking my ankle in August 2023.”

Rachel recovered, then the pair were in a terrible truck/trailer accident involving a semi in February 2024, which totaled the truck and trailer.

They recovered from that experience as well, and Rachel somehow found along the way that No Time For Kisses became her rock through the hard times.  “The horse no amount of money could buy – he was the calm of my anxiety-raged storms!!”

“Fast forward to working four jobs to afford making it to the Championship Show at WEC Ocala September 2024 in my consignment secondhand tack and show clothes in a pen filled with top dollar horses and riders in custom clothes and tack!”

The team won the Non Pro Limited Rider Maturity Hunter Under Saddle at the show, a dream come true, explains Rachel, but the utter shock resulted in this Equine Chronicle photo!

“An absolute testimony to the underdog finally getting a victory,” says Rachel.
