Armageddon is widely regarded as the final battle between good and evil – in the case of the Armageddon the horse, a 2018 AQHA 17’1h gelding by Allocate Your Assets and out of Fine Details, the good has officially won!
Earlier this week at the 2024 All American Quarter Horse Congress, not only did the gelding win the Senior Pleasure Driving under the guidance of Chuck Briggs, but he followed up with a win with owner Michelle McLean in Amateur Pleasure Driving!
“He is six years old, and this is his first year to show here in the driving,” explains Chuck Briggs, who says this is their second year with Joey. “He showed in the Hunter events, and Michelle does all the Amateur under saddle and equitation.”
As far as the driving experience, Michelle says without hesitation, “Oh, it was fun! With him, it is so much fun – he really likes that class.”
“It’s his favorite class,” Chuck agrees. At the 2024 NSBA World Championship Show, the team followed the same pattern – Chuck showed “Joey” to a win in Open Pleasure Driving, and on his heels, Michelle won the Amateur Pleasure Driving.
Overall, they say that Joey is a happy, kind horse, and he will continue to be Michelle’s amateur horse.
For others who want to try driving, Chuck says his best advice is to get good help. “That’s the most important. Don’t skip any steps and take your time. Brian Holmes trained him and did an excellent job.”
