Being in the presence of horses has always given supermodel Kate Upton a sense of peace and fueled her passion. As a child, Upton felt most at home in the company of horses, often spending her afternoons doing homework in the family’s barn. Today, life looks much different for the fashion icon who balances her many commitments as an entrepreneur, international model, wife to a professional baseball player, and mother to a five-year-old daughter.
From the beginning, horses played a pivotal role in Upton’s career trajectory. After being discovered by a talent scout at a Texas airport as she was traveling home from a horse show, the teenager embarked on a whirlwind modeling career that quickly skyrocketed her to superstardom.
The international supermodel is described by Sports Illustrated as a legend of the swimsuit brand. She has graced the cover four times, most recently in 2024. Upton has also appeared on the covers of Vogue, Elle, GQ, and Esquire. In 2013, she was photographed by Annie Leibowitz for the 100th anniversary cover of Vanity Fair. She has served as the face of Bobbi Brown cosmetics and been featured in campaigns for multiple international brands, including Guess?, Sam Edelman, David Yurman, Betsey Johnson, and Nordstrom, among many others.
Upton is also an entrepreneur and actress. She co-owns the beverage company Vosa Spirits and has appeared in numerous feature films including The Layover and The Other Woman alongside Cameron Diaz and Leslie Mann. She appears in the recently released film Sweet Dreams with Johnny Knoxville. Currently, Upton hosts the reality fashion television show Dress My Tour on Hulu.
Upton’s career has taken her around the world and back again. “It was a ride from the very beginning,” she says. “My first job was in Peru. At the time, I didn’t have a passport and had to rush to get one. Now, I’ve been to every continent and have traveled to many countries.”
At age 15, Upton signed with a modeling agency following an open casting call and moved to Miami. From there she began traveling the world modeling for many different companies. At age 17, as her career took off, she relocated once more–to New York.
