The Roberts/Timchak Family Strikes Gold at the NSBA World Show
At the NSBA World Championship Show this week, the mother/daughter team of Capital Quarter Horses has been on fire in the Western Pleasure pen!
Mom Susan Roberts won the Amateur 50 & Over Western Pleasure with The Cooki Monster, and in two classes both ladies showed in, Susan took first with The Cooki Monster, and Daughter Hillary Timchak took Reserve with Aint Nothn To It. Those classes were the Maturity Non-Pro Western Pleasure and the BCF 4-6 Year Old Non-Pro Western Pleasure!
Both horses were also raised by Capital Quarter Horses, so the victories were particularly meaningful.
After Hillary won another title on Wednesday, August 14th, with Aint Nothn To It, this time in Amateur Western Pleasure, she joked that she has been trying to get around her mom the whole show and she hasn’t been able to do it!
“I told her the only class I have a shot at is the one she’s not in,” Hillary laughs. They haven’t shown together in a few years, so they’re having a lot of fun doing so currently, she says.
“Now it’s super-conducive because Mom has RJ to help her, and I have Angie (Cannizzaro) and Brian (Ale) for the maturities, and we can show together more easily now.”
Hillary is also having a blast on “Irene,” who she says is a favorite of hers because she can be challenging. “She’s different every time, and you can’t just go in and ride her the same each time. You kind of have to see what your situation is that day, and how she feels, and you have to know when you can go for it, and when you need to be more soft,” she says.
“Today, I felt like I could go for it, and I told Brian (Ale) this morning that I feel like I have the 2023 Congress all over again today, because that’s where we won the Amateur and the Maturity last year.”
She says that Irene, by Machine Made and out of Shez Immortal, a full sibling to horses like Line Up Behind and Flat Stanley, is also fun to show at the extended trot because she has a big, pretty stride. “If she trusts me that day, then I can send her and be aggressive and really show my connection with that horse. Brian and Angie do a great job with her.”
This is also her first run showing really pregnant, and they’re showing through Congress if they can! “It’s a girl and we have a few names on the list, but we’re not sure if we’re going to share it or keep it quiet until the day,” shares Hillary. Everybody has been so awesome, and so generous, especially Mom!”
