Dolce Chavez and Rock County Kid

Dolce Chavez and Rock County Kid won the L2 Youth 14-18 Western Pleasure at the 2024 AQHYA World Championship Show Friday afternoon.

It was their first World Show Pleasure title together, and “Rocky” lives with Mike and May Edwards in Arizona, Dolce explains. “He used to be my mom’s show horse, and I started riding him two years and went back to showing again,” she says.  “It has been a nice journey for us and he’s been teaching me a lot.” Dolce’s strategy to prepare before they went in to the arena was to give Rocky a little pep talk, but mostly, just staying relaxed was the key to her success with him in the class.

Rocky is also definitely her buddy as he has been for two years, Dolce says. “He has a big character, loves treats, just loves food, and he’ll stick his nose in everything!”
