“This is what it’s all about!” says Loren Hitchcock, Development Director at Stable Strides Farm, a therapeutic riding program in Pilot Point, Texas. Loren sent us this photo that has a great story behind it.
“Back in the beginning of June, Darby and Mandy came up with a plan to surprise Darby’s mom at the Palomino Horse Breeders of America – PHBA World Championship Show by showing in the walk trot canter classes. The plan was set in motion! Little did Lydia know the WHOLE barn family was in on it. During practice on Saturday we made a human-equine wall to block Darby’s practice horsemanship pattern,” Loren says.
“Showing horses is so much more than what happens in the ring,” Loren concludes. “The memories and relationships we make through these incredible creatures last a life time. Also props to Daniel, Darby’s dad, for keeping the secret! Congrats to Darby on smashing your goals!”
Don’t you just love how she refers to Stable Strides as their “barn family?” Thank you to Loren, Darby, Lydia, Mandy, and Daniel for sharing this moment with our readers! And big congrats to Darby! If you have a great photo of the day, please email it to us: Delores.Kuhlwein@EquineChronicle.com.
