Around the Rings – 2024 AQHA West L1 Championship Show – Wednesday, May 15

In the Preifert Arena at South Point Equestrian Center in Las Vegas, Makaley Jannah and A Classy Chex won top honors in the L1 Youth 13 & Under Hunt Seat Equitation at the 2024 AQHA West L1 Championship Show! Makaley has had “Ella” almost a year, and her favorite classes Western Riding and Horsemanship, and Equitation can probably be added to that list now!
“It was a good pattern,” Makaley says, and her trainer, Paige Stroud trainer, “helped me with all the elements – my diagonals and my forehand turn.” She explains even though Ella is not smooth, she’s fun to ride and “she’s taught me a bunch! She’s definitely sensitive and I had to learn to be lighter with her.” Makaley adds that she got the horse bug from her mom and granny – mom showed 4H.

We also caught up to Rose Amala & Gold and Elegant as she picked up her 13 & Under All Around award for the Pinnacle Circuit. This is the biggest show Gold And Elegant (by Zippos Old Gold) has been to in her 16 years, and this is her first set of braids, too. She came to the rescue for Rose Amala while “Pawn Star” is recuperating. What was it like showing her first show horse, a walk trotter, at all three gaits?
