2023 SoCal Spring APHA & All Breed Horse Show at LA Equestrian Center

Once again APHA shows are returning to Southern California, and first up for 2023 is the SoCal Spring APHA & All Breed Horse Show.

Produced by California Paint Horse Association and the San Joaquin Paint Horse Club, and co-hosted by the Greater Los Angeles Paint Horse Club, the March 3-5, 2023 show promises fun at the show grounds and offsite, as the location is none other than the Los Angeles Equestrian Center in Burbank, California.

Families will be able to enjoy close proximity to Universal Studios Hollywood, the Hollywood Sign, and other great Southern California attractions.

The show itself offers the following:

  • All You Can Show Flat Entry Fee
  • Bridleless Western Pleasure Jackpot
  • Full Ranch Horse Division
  • 6 APHA Judges | All Breed Classes
  • CPHA 2 Judge Show
  • SJPHC/GLAPHC 4 Judge POR
  • 20 Championship Buckles
  • Low Entry Fees

The low entry fees are possible due to participation in the APHA Inflation Buster Incentives and an efficiently run show.  Here’s the scoop from the show:

Producing a high-quality horse show at a desirable facility with all the amenities you & your horses deserve is expensive. We’re taking advantage of the APHA Inflation Buster Incentives to reduce operating expenses – and passing those savings along to you! Most classes will be judged concurrently by the CPHA & SJPHC Judges. This allows the show to move more efficiently for the exhibitors and require fewer days to produce. It also allows us to minimize daily expenses on facility rental, staff, and hotel rooms.

Get class entry fees as low as $10/class per judge. APHA rules require Showmanship, Horsemanship, and Equitation to be judged separately. Exhibitors will have two gos for these pattern classes, the first to the CPHA judges and then moving to the other end of the arena to show to the SJPHC judges. All other classes will be one go, judged by all six judges.

The CPHA Judges will be Cindy Weight-Carter and Jason Contreras, and the SJPHC Judges will be Keith McDonough, Jim Edwards, Michael Damainos, and Jan Larsen.

“We’re excited to partner with Greater Los Angeles Paint Horse Club to reignite APHA horse shows in Southern California,” says SJPHC Show Manager Jennifer Barbee. “The show is positioned as a kickoff for the season and an opportunity to test out the skills learned over the winter. Plus, we’ve got a Old Hollywood theme Trail course – what could be more fun?!”

The list of those above mentioned Twenty Championship Buckles is long, and here it is!
