The 2022 WCHA Breeder’s Championship & Big Money Halter Futurities were held September 24th through October 1st, 2022, in conjunction with the APHA Halter Million.
The WCHA alliance with the APHA World Show brought 3 futurity programs – WCHA, Big Money, and APHA Breeders Trust – to one venue with an opportunity for big payouts for owners and exhibitors, and the event became billed as The Halter Million, because over $1 Million was paid out. The event was without a doubt, an incredible opportunity for stallion owners as well.
There were also plentiful opportunities for colored foals registered with APHA, ApHC, PHBA, ABRA, and ARHA, including solid bred offspring sired by participating sires.
The show’s numbers represented the continued growth and interest in the Halter industry, as demonstrated by classes such as 48 shown in Senior Fillies and 28 Junior Colts in the WCHA BigMoneyFuturity. In addition, total WCHA payouts were staggering!
“Total payouts were $988,000 for WCHA and Big Money,” said Don Falcon, WCHA Executive Director and Futurity Manager.
