Ranching Heritage Bred Winners at AQHYA World Show

The 2021 Built Ford Tough AQHYA World Championship Show was the largest ever held, as youth from around the world came to show for prizes in Level 3, Adequan® Level 2 and Nutrena Level 1 competition. Two American Quarter Horses earned special awards for their owners and breeders, in addition to the loot they earned with their leading performances.
The horses are AQHA Ranching Heritage-bred horses, and with that designation Circle Bar Peptonita was named the highest-placing Level 1 Ranching Heritage-bred horse of the show, and Tees Alley Cat was the highest-placing Level 3 Ranching Heritage-bred horse of the show.
Circle Bar Peptonita is owned by Neal Pirkle of Waco, Texas, and was shown in Nutrena Level 1 performance halter mares, in which she placed fourth, western riding 14-18 and ranch riding. The 2014 red roan mare by Circle Bar Mr Pepto and out of the Preferred Pay mare Remember Hanna was bred by Circle Bar Ranch of Truscott, Texas.
Tees Alley Cat was the Level 3 tie-down roping world champion with owner Garrett Reed of Gause, Texas. He also competed in breakaway roping and heeling to take home the extra win. The 2013 bay roan gelding is by Metallic Cat and out of the Doc’s Hickory mare Hickorys Tornado Rio. He was bred by Dan Churchill of Moline, Illinois.
Both horses earned a specially designed trophy and a $250 cash prize to both their owners, and an additional $250 cash prize to their respective breeders.
The AQHA Ranching Heritage program highlights ranches that are certified as AQHA Ranching Heritage Breeders. These working cattle ranches produce quality horses needed to work on the ranch. The program is designed to showcase the qualities of a working ranch horse by recognizing the top Ranching Heritage-bred horses competing at major events.
The awards are given to the top-placing Ranching Heritage-bred horse in each division, with the tie breaker going to the horse that defeats the most horses. Anyone can show these horses, which are eligible for special events such as AQHA Ranching Heritage Challenges.
