After a huge renovation at the Earl Warren Show Grounds in Santa Barbara, the former Fall Classic show returns as the newly crowned California Championship Show. Featuring six judges and AQHA/PCQHA approval, this show gives back to exhibitors with unheard of $2 entry fees/judge for Amateur, Select Amateur, Youth, Novice Amateur, and Novice Youth classes. The California Championship offers a full slate of open and futurity classes for English, Western, Trail, Ranch, Reining and Speed Events. There will also be 10 Futurity classes for Western, English, Trail, Ranch Riding and Trail.
You heard right – $2 entry fees/judge for all Amateur, Select Amateur, Novice Amateur (L1), Youth and Novice Youth (L1) classes. “PCQHA recognizes the financial challenges of showing in California, so this show offers PCQHA members a chance to show at the beautiful renovated Earl Warren Show Grounds in Santa Barbara and enjoy the unheard of $2 entry fees,” said PCQHA director, Marc Ristow, a key driver behind the show. “The financial success of The Celebration/EMO Western States Championship show at South Point Casino and Equestrian Center in Las Vegas, held July 1-11, 2021, encouraged PCQHA to experiment with lower entry fees and better prizes at the California Championship Show.”
In addition to $2 entry fees, generous sponsors from across the state and across disciplines came together to sponsor 12 High Point Sterling Western Saddles. “It was important to recognize outstanding horses and riders in all events, not just the all-around horses and riders,” said Kellie Hinely, PCQHA director, and that is why we created the new “High Point Champion” categories. High Point Saddles will be given in 12 categories. Each High Point Champion receives a custom Sterling Custom Work Saddle. Special thanks to Meghan and Stephanie Harrison from Horse Show Closet for sponsoring 12 Reserve Champion customized oversize Show Blankets. There will also be many other awards, prizes, fun and parties.
The Earl Warren Show Grounds has five renovated show arenas, including the large grand stands oval which has been totally updated with new footing, light and sound systems. There are 466 permanent stalls available.
The California Championship Show Circuit replaces the Fall Classic Quarter Horse show. Like its sister show in Las Vegas, The Celebration/EMO Western States Championship, the California Championship Show Circuit is over the top for prizes and awards, low $2 entry fees, and an amazing list of classes.
