New AQHA Ranching Heritage Council

The American Quarter Horse Association Executive Committee recently approved the formation of the new AQHA Ranching Heritage Council. The purpose of the AQHA Ranching Heritage Council is to evaluate strategies that create recognition to AQHA Ranching Heritage programs by developing ideas that will add value to AQHA Ranching Heritage programs and Ranching Heritage-bred horses.

The new council members are:

  • Martha Armitage, Claremore, Oklahoma
  • AQHA Past President Dr. Glenn Blodgett, Guthrie, Texas
  • Jim Brinkman, Ericson, Nebraska
  • Rob Brown, Stinnett, Texas
  • Terry Stuart Forst, Waurika, Oklahoma
  • Craig Haythorn, Arthur, Nebraska
  • Steve Krogman, White River, South Dakota
  • Bill Smith, Thermopolis, Wyoming
  • AQHA Past President Stan Weaver, Big Sandy, Montana

AQHA Ranching Heritage Programs

AQHA offers a variety of programs that encourage breeders, owners, exhibitors and youth members to breed, ride and compete on an AQHA Ranching Heritage bred horse. These programs celebrate the tradition of ranching American Quarter Horses while highlighting the versatility of these horses in AQHA events across the board.
