Multiple Novice Horse Slot Champion, The Best Martini, Will Stand at Pine View Farms

phpThumb_generated_thumbnailjpgJust a few days ago, Brian Cox piloted The Best Martini, a three-year-old stallion by RL Best of Sudden and out of Absolute Martini Girl, to a win in the 3 and 4-Year-Old $1,000 Novice Horse Western Pleasure Slot class at the 2013 Little Futurity. A few months prior, Cox and “Martin” scored another win in the 3-Year-Old and Over Novice Horse Western Pleasure Slot class at the 2013 SOQHA Winter Show in Wilmington, Ohio.

In our previous interviews, Cox noted that he and stallion owners, Rhonda and Duane Malone, had plans to continue to campaign Martin at the upcoming Tom Powers Futurity, NSBA World Show, and All American Quarter Horse Congress. Cox also mentioned the possibility of standing this promising stallion at stud next year. Today, we decided to follow up on that conversation by speaking with Debbi Trubee of Pine View Farms, where The Best Martini will be joining legendary sires such as Invitation Only, Lazy Loper, and Winnie’s Willy.

“In addition to Rhonda and Buddy being clients here, they are also good friends,” Debbi Trubee says. “We are very happy to be able to stand The Best Martini at Pine View Farms. He’s really the epitome of what we are looking to offer the industry with his great movement, breeding, and incredible brain.”

Proud owner, Rhonda Malone, credits Martin’s recent success to his easygoing personality and show horse pedigree.

“I think Martin’s success is because of his mind and his lineage of show horses,” Malone says. “He is a kind horse to begin with and has natural ability due to his dam and sire. You add Brian Cox to the mix, and now you’re cooking with peanut oil! It’s a match made in heaven. Those two have a lot of respect for each other, and I think that’s why it works.”

“I love him, and I have been doing this a long time. I see the trends for the shows and how they are changing. This fits right in with The Best Martini. He will add beauty, movement, and trainability to his babies. He is a special horse.”

Currently, Malone keeps several of her broodmares in the care of Debbi Trubee and Roger Landis at Pine View in northeastern Ohio. She is thrilled that Martin will be joining them to stand at stud in the coming years.

“Having Martin at Pine View is one of the best decisions I have ever made concerning my horses,” she says. “Pine View has my broodmares, and they are on top of every single horse there. My mares are at the top of the list when it comes to Debbi, and Roger handles the stallions. Their care is impeccable, and I know that when he is there, they will take the best care possible. Debbi and I have been friends for years, and I know her pretty well and she knows me. She knows how important these horses are to their owners. They are the best in the business, and I’m glad to have them on my team!”
