8-Year-Old Logan Starnes Wins 2018 QH Congress Small Fry Western Pleasure

Tonight’s highlighted event at the 2018 QH Congress was the always popular Small Fry Western Pleasure. 66 entries and four cuts later and 8-year-old Logan Starnes was named the big winner aboard his 4-year-old gelding, Certainly Flatlined.

Logan was quick to inform us that this is not his first big win. He’s also a World Champion, a title he earned at the NSBA World Show earlier this year.

Logan explains how his gelding received his nickname of “Peter.”

“I actually thought of the name,” he says. “We had three babies at the same time, and I was told to name all of them. I chose one theme and the theme was Jake and the Neverland Pirates. It’s a TV show that I used to love. I chose to name Peter after Peter Pan!”

Logan’s favorite thing about Peter is his super soft nose.

 

Peter and Logan currently compete under the guidance of his mother and father, Kristy and Jay Starnes. They gave him some helpful advice before he went in to compete tonight.

“They said to keep my hand down at the saddle pad, keep both my arms straight, and don’t spur Peter too hard!”

The Reserve Champion was Quincy Clagg with Vallejo Zipntil Dark. Third was Dolce Chavez with Hot Lopin Goodbar. Fourth was Addyson Chafin with VS Security Code. Fifth was Dana Moody with Cudda Invited Me.
