NW Emerald Around the Ring Photos and Results

The Washington State Quarter Horse Association was pleased to host the Northwest Emerald September 5-8 in sunny Washington State to a host of happy competitors, who were pleased to enjoy an early introduction of fall weather.
As is traditional at WSQHA events, there were plenty of social events that allowed competitors to take a break from the show pen and kick up their heels for some fun. AQHA stallion, Machine Made, was the sponsor of the Masters Futurity Party and supplied a lovely spread of cheese, crackers, fruits, and various dips to enjoy while marveling at the talented 2-year-olds in the NW Emerald Masters Western Pleasure Futurity. Taking home the top spot this year was Ty Elrod with KM This Rounds On Me, owned by Don and Ginger Rae.
When spectators weren’t watching classes, they were invited to peruse the offerings in the Amateur Silent Auction, which had gift baskets filled with doggy treats, cooking utensils, party supplies, bath products, wine, and even a potted plant or two.
Another fundraiser was the Horse Crazy Breyer Adoption, a special program developed in memory of two WSQHA members who lost their battles with cancer. For a $10 small horse or $20 large horse, people can have the knowledge that their financial contributions will be going directly to support kids, who otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity to experience horseback riding. The program was created in memory of Jamie Solomon and Corinna Girling, both lifelong horsewoman and members of WSQHA. The program is funded through private donations, which help to provide financial support to young equestrians from families of limited income. The donations help pay for riding lessons within close proximity to the applicants.
