The Stars N Stripes and Big A horse shows showed record growth this year with 700 entries up over last year’s total and dual-approved entries that “went through the roof,” according to equine show management team, An Equine Production. In addition to a full slate of classes for 10 AQHA shows, the event also hosted the National Quarter Horse League Huntfield Derby Championship.
Another special event held at the Big A was the Show For Dough Futurity with 20 speciality classes ranging from Western Pleasure and Hunter Under Saddle to Horsemanship and Equitation. There were 190 entries in the Futurity this year with 69 Trail entries alone, as well as 600 entries in the dual approved portion of the show. The Trail Futurity paid out $7,795 and $7,200 was paid in Horsemanship, Showmanship and Equation classes. A grand total of $26,242.00 was paid to 152 different exhibitors.
Winning the Maturity Open Hunter Under Saddle was Farley Mclendon with Sleep Alilbit Longer. Winning the 2-Year-Old Non Pro Western Pleasure was Jessica Groome-Olsen with Whoose On First. Justin Arrington rode Get Radical In My RV to win 3-Year-Old Non Pro Western Pleasure. The winner of the Maturity $10,000 Limited Horse Open Western Pleasure was Adrienne Dickerson with Mug Shott. Cindy Durham rode Best But Better to win 3-Year-Old Limited Non Pro Western Pleasure.
Bruce Vickery and Extremely Good Stuff won the 4 and 5-Year-Old Open Trail. Bruce Vickery also won the 6-Year-Old and Over Open Trail with Only Temptation. Emma Brown and Some Hot Potential won All Age Non Pro Trail. Nick Mayabb and Feeling Lazy won 3-Year-Old Open Trail. Beth Case and Couture Blue Genes won 3-Year-Old Open Hunter Under Saddle. Tiina Volmer and Beter Late Thn Never won Maturity Non Pro Hunter Under Saddle.
Theresa Wills won 3-Year-Old Limited Open Western Pleasure with An Absolute Martini. Marcie Budine and Loping Radical won Maturity Non Pro Western Pleasure. Jay Starnes and Whoose On First won 2-Year-Old Open Western Pleasure. Allison McDonald and Im All Diva won 3-Year-Old Limited Open Hunter Under Saddle. Beth Case and Hez A Dancing Hubba won 2-Year-Old Open Hunter Under Saddle. Debbie Hodde and Couture Blue Genes won 3-Year-Old Non Pro Hunter Under Saddle.
Kaitlin Leblanc and Lazy Way Around won 2-Year-Old Limited Open Western Pleasure. Angie Cannizzaro rode Moonstruckk to win 3-Year-Old $2,500 Limited Horse Open Western Pleasure. Riley Preston and Well Oiled Machine won Maturity $10,000 Limited Horse Limited Open Western Pleasure.
