2018 Stars N Stripes and Big A Wrap Up- Complete Results and Photos

After nine days of AQHA and NSBA action, the Georgia Quarter Horse Association Stars N Stripes and Big A is a wrap! Both of these shows recorded more than 20,000 total entries in 2017 and and both were AQHA Top Ten shows. It looks like they’re both on track to do even better this year, because An Equine Production reports that AQHA entries are up nearly 700!
The show kicked off June 29th-July 1st in Conyers, GA. with the Stars N Stripes portion of the show and continued July 3rd-8th with the Big A. Ten judges officiated the event with the Judges’ Pool consisting of: Brent Tincher, Tanya Brown, Danielle Burns, Bruce Brown, Lisa Ligon, Brad Leubben, Tanya Green, Allen Mitchels, Mark Russell, Larry Hansch, Nancy Renfro, Clay MacLeod, Buddy Fisher, Jonathan Meilleur, Eric Petersen, Randy Wilson, Bruce Walquist, Jeff Greaves, Beckey Schooler, Jon Barry, Lynda Danielson, Billy Prather (VRH), and Eddie Smith (VRH).
Special events included Show For Dough futurity classes, Premier Quarter Sires classes, National Quarter Horse League Huntfield Derby, new Versatility Ranch classes, Cross Rails, and Short Stirrup classes, in addition to more than $7,200 added in classes like Showmanship, Horsemanship, and Equitation.
On Thursday, competitors enjoyed a Welcome Party with food, adult libations, kids’ games, and musical entertainment, sponsored by All That Show Clothing and Dean Bogart Performance Horses. Each morning of the show, there were great breakfasts sponsored by Lindsey Mehling, Green Branch Farms/Mikal Newberry, Brian and Angela Stanhope, Debbie Lisabeth Quarter Horses, Judd Paul Training Center, CAC Show Horses, Starnes Quarter Horses and The Lopin Machine, and Showstring and the Janis family. On Monday, there was an Exhibitor’s Party, sponsored by Cherokee Feed/Triple Crown/J&J Hay and Equine Sports Medicine, that entertained competitors during the Huntfield Derby Finals, Show For Dough Trail classes, Painted Ponies, and GQHYA Dog Show.
