Paints Score Big at Solid Gold Futurity and Inaugural Stock Market Sale

Two Paint Horses topped all-comers in a recent pair of premier halter events.
Olin Parker and Lets Get Cozy took home first place and a check for $8,500 in the Solid Gold Futurity’s Maiden Yearling Fillies class. The 2016 solid Paint-bred filly is by Kids Coolsified (QH) and out of RH Imprints Playgirl; she was bred by Bruce and Beverly Baker of Kellogg, Minnesota, and is owned by Kenneth and Lisa Maxwell of Owasso, Oklahoma.
Taking place on May 25-28, the Solid Gold Futurity’s all-breed Maiden Series featured big payouts; a total of $66,000 was awarded among three yearling halter slot classes and five performance futurity classes. The futurity took place in conjunction with the Missouri Quarter Horse Association’s Gateway Classic show at Lake St. Louis, Missouri.
A prestigious and widely popular event in the 1980s, the Solid Gold Futurity was reinvigorated this year with the help of organizer Jennifer Sheriff, an APHA member and national director from Sheffield, Iowa.
“I wanted to bring it back because everyone back then liked that futurity,” Jennifer said. “It was a good futurity. I felt we needed it again.”
Due to arena construction, the show could not be held at its original venue of Springfield, Illinois. The Solid Gold is open to APHA, AQHA, AHBA, ApHC, and ABRA horses.
Paints also rose to the top at the inaugural Stock Market Sale on June 3 at Heritage Place in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The sale featured consignment from top breeders and exhibitors across the nation.
Extaci, a 2016 sorrel overo mare by Exact and out of Skip N Show, was the high-selling halter horse with a final bid of $33,000. John and Diane Malani purchased the yearling filly who was bred and consigned by Sonrisa Land and Cattle Company of Dublin, Texas.
