LIVE From the Mayflower Horse Show With the Kruchten Sisters
The 2017 Mayflower will take place May 4-7 in Des Moines, Iowa. This event recorded over 5,500 total entries in 2016. Judges for the show will be Andrea Simons, Suzy Jeane, Tina Anderson Jill Newcomb, Murray Griggs, and David Denniston.

Hey Equine Chronicle Readers!
We are the Kruchten sisters, here for the first time at the Mayflower Show in Des Moines, Iowa. We’re excited to bring you day-to-day updates on what’s going on around the rings!
To introduce ourselves, we are Kamryn, Rachel, and Lou Kruchten, here with Jeff Greaves Performance Horses. Kamryn is here showing her horse, KM Suddenly The Best, in Showmanship and Western Pleasure. Rachel shows her horse, Chex Out My Lope, in Showmanship and Trail. Lastly, Lou will be competing with her horse, Mister Spontaneous, in the all-around events including Showmanship, Horsemanship, Equitation, Trail, and Western Pleasure. This is Lou and Earl’s first year in the novice events, so it’s a big year for them!
Yesterday kicked off the four-day long show that started at 8:00 a.m. Classes that showed included Trail, Western Riding, Western pleasure, Driving, Hunter under Saddle and Equitation. For some trainers, it was sure a busy day! There were good size classes with the Senior Trail topping 32 head! In the Level 1, there were 27 horses shown.
After the Trail, the Western Riding followed with 23 shown in the Level 1. Then followed the Ranch Riding. We have to say, after watching the Ranch Riding classes, it was pretty cool! Tim Kimura, aka “The Man of Trail,” created the Ranch Riding patterns for both of the days with an exciting pattern to watch riders compete. Following the Ranch Riding was the Hunter under Saddle and Equitation. After the show, there was a Showmanship clinic that was put on. There was also pizza sponsored by Purina.
