Join AQHA in Supporting Wildfire Relief Efforts

Join the American Quarter Horse Association in supporting the relief efforts of alliance partners NRHA and WRCA.

The recent wildfires devastated acreage in Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle and tragically took the lives of humans, horses and other livestock and wildlife in their paths. With so many needing help, the American Quarter Horse Association has provided financial support to the relief efforts of AQHA alliance partner Working Ranch Cowboys Association through its Foundation Crisis Fund and suggests donating much-needed supplies through the National Reining Horse Association.

NRHA and the Reining Horse Foundation are requesting donations of livestock supplies (hay, feed, wound-care supplies, fencing, etc.) to assist Oklahoma and Texas ranchers impacted by the recent fires. They are offering to connect those in the equine industry with those who are in need through a series of drop-off locations. Learn more about drop-off locations at www.nrha1.com.

WRCA is accepting livestock-related items, such as hay and feed, at these drop-off locations. The WRCA Foundation is also accepting cash donations for the Wildfire Relief Fund to benefit working ranch families in moments of crisis. The WRCA Foundation’s mission is to provide financial assistance to working ranch cowboys and their families through crisis assistance and scholarship funding. In addition to the support of our alliance partner efforts, AQHA members in the affected areas with memberships due to expire between now and May 31, 2017, will automatically be extended for an additional 90 days. These members will receive a new AQHA membership card in the mail within the next few weeks that will reflect the adjusted expiration date.

AQHA is also offering free duplicate certificates to replace those that may have been lost or damaged. Please fill out this form and indicate in the “other” option on the form that papers were lost or damaged due to the fire.

“We know that we cannot fix the damage caused by the wildfires, but we hope this offer will help in some small way,” said AQHA Executive Vice President Craig Huffhines.
