We had a really great time at the Redbud Spectacular. I always love going to Oklahoma City because it’s great practice for the World Show in November; you can get a really good feel for the arenas and show against some of the best horses in the industry. Especially the all-around classes are very big and strong; there’s up to 70 in Western Riding and Trail classes and all of those horses are high quality. Now that I’m really starting to get into all-around classes with my mare, Onlyafraid Inthedark, it’s great to have the opportunity to show to eight judges and to show three times per class at one show.
The Hunter Under Saddle classes have been very good quality too. I was watching the Amateur Hunter Under saddle the other day and was really excited to see very nice performances. The circuit championship went to A Boy Named HOO with Sharnai Thompson. She also won the Amateur Western Pleasure unanimously with her horse, Rock County Kid. The Junior Hunter Under Saddle circuit championship went to Beth Case with Not Just Anyhoo, who also won the Junior Pleasure Driving. Beth showed the horse in Hunter Under Saddle only two weeks after giving birth to her little son, Cody Justin Case!

The Trail classes were very big, and the “Man of Trail” Tim Kimura made sure we had nice and challenging patterns every day. For me, they were the most difficult Trail classes I’ve ridden in until now in my short Trail career. I was very happy to be able to make it through pretty well and take home some more points. There were many outstanding Trail runs. For example, Chad Evans showed Suddenly Extreme, who won big, and World Champion Snap Crackle Pop with Blake Weis and Robin Frid showing Wearin Only Moonlight and many others.

Another class that’s quite new to me, but I’ve already fallen in love with is Western Riding, and the Redbud was a great show to see some excellent Western Riding performances. World Champion Jane Humes won the Amateur L3 Circuit with her horse Dunnit On A Range.
All a girl really needs is her horse and a stuffed bunny rabbit.
Apart from the high quality horses and exhibitors, I have to note that the show was very well organized, as it is every year, and it was great to be back showing where we will all meet again in November.
