Are You Ready For the Rebud?

The 2016 Redbud Spectacular will take place June 2nd-12th at the Oklahoma City Fairgrounds and will host eight AQHA shows. Free parties, giveaways, drawings, a dance contest, and terrific shopping are just a few of the features that await AQHA exhibitors and show goers. In addition, $130,000 in cash, prizes, and giveaways will be awarded to lucky competitors!

All-around judges will include Sissy Anderson, Elizabeth Baker, Ryan Kail, Keith Miller, Judd Paul, Nancy Renfro, Curtis Reynolds, Sara Simons, Courtney Fuller, and Karen McCuistion. Specialized judges include David Avery, Steve Cruz, Gary Duffy, Reid Fady, Jodi Finkenbinder, Dian Grod, Jeri Harman, Bobby Hunt, Randy Jacobs, Luke Jones, Ann Laise, Kent Martin, Jay Mullen, and Gary Putnam. Trail courses will be designed by Tim Kimura and Jumping courses will designed by Robert Barton.

The Redbud officially kicks off Thursday, June 2nd at 6:00 pm in the Super Barn with a Wine Tasting and Hors d’oeuvres Party. Also, be sure to attend the Progressive Dinner Party on Tuesday, June 7th at 8:00 pm in  the Super Barn.

Special Events

Halter will show twice for eight sets of AQHA points while all other classes will show three times. Special events include the Redbud Hunter Derby on June 9th and the Redbud Ranch Riding Event June 3, 4, and 5.

Redbud Ranch Riding Event

The Redbud Ranch Riding Event will include Ranch Riding, Ranch Trail, Ranch Reining, and Ranch Conformation classes and is being sponsored by the National Ranch Horse Riding Association. $5,000 in added money and $10,000 in prizes will be awarded in open, non-pro, novice non-pro, and youth divisions. $500 will be awarded in each class and each division, not including conformation or youth. A saddle will be presented to the Overall Non Pro winner. Custom Mike Edwards Spurs will be awarded to the Overall Open winner. Circuit prizes will be presented to Overall Division winners, and there will be prizes for the top 3 riders in each division.

Redbud Hunter Derby

Round 1 and 2 will be held on Thursday, June 9th at 8:30 am. Round 1 will be judged in open numerical score format and there will be at least three option jumps receiving 1 bonus point each. Round 2 will be the Handy Hunter round, which will be judged in open numerical score format; handiness will be included in the score. There will be at least three option jumps worth 1 bonus point for each higher option taken. 0-10 bonus points will be given to the level of handiness. The working order for the final round will be determined by the lowest to highest combined score. Round 1 and Round 2 will be added together to determine overall winner.

The open class will have a $1,000 purse and a $100 entry fee. The non-pro class will have a $500 purse with a $50 entry fee. The Low Derby class will have a $500 purse and an entry fee of $50.
