We are deeply saddened to relay the news that a legend in the equine industry has passed. Don’t Skip Zip was a 26-year-old AQHA stallion by Zippo Pine Bar and out of Sheza Ten. During his lifetime, he was an AQHA, NSBA, and Equistat Leading Sire, the AQHA High Point Open and Junior Western Pleasure Horse in 1994, earned 177 AQHA Western Pleasure points, and recorded $11,594.82 in NSBA earnings.
“We were best friends, Skip and I,” says Clarice Cooper of Cooper Quarter Horses. “I could go on about his sire record; however, I choose to remember his kindness and magnetic effect on humans; the hundreds of vet students he taught how to collect; his love of children and strutting his stuff showing off to visitors; and the many customers he took on test rides and packed around like they could win the Congress.”
“On Saturday, in Skip fashion, he showed off and posed for our customers. Then, with great sadness, we found Skip had passed in his sleep on Saturday evening.”
The impressive sire record Cooper refers to includes the following notable accomplishments.
“We have so many fond memories,” Cooper says. “We’re thankful for all the opportunities he opened our lives up to and the wonderful people we met as a result. We have a deep hole in our hearts due to the sudden loss.”
“We will honor his breedings with our frozen semen. This is a very difficult time for the entire family, and we appreciate your support in our time of grievance.”
