The American Quarter Horse Association is pleased to announce the addition of Kim Lindsey as the new AQHA director of ranching. Lindsey will begin her new role in Amarillo on February 22.
In her new role, Lindsey will be responsible for developing new programs to enhance and educate American Quarter Horse owners about the ranching division of the Association. She will also direct and coordinate Versatility Ranch Horse competitions in addition to the Zoetis AQHA Versatility Ranch Horse World Championships.
Lindsey’s resume boasts a more than 20-year career in ranch management and an AQHA record of competing in Versatility Ranch Horse and the ranch pleasure class, as well as Stock Horse of Texas competition. Her background makes her an excellent candidate to spearhead ranching initiatives like the AQHA Ranching Heritage Breeder program, Ranching Heritage Challenge and the Young Horse Development Program.
“We are excited about the future of AQHA ranching with Kim at the helm,” said Pete Kyle, AQHA chief show officer. “We believe her strong background will bring a lot to the table when planning, directing and coordinating programs and events designed to build ownership and interest in ranching horses.”
Employed most recently by Texas Tech University as the equestrian center director, Lindsey boasts a long history of involvement with American Quarter Horses and AQHA competition. She has also been the executive director of the Stock Horse of Texas Association since 2009 where she oversaw the activities of the more than 900 members along with competition coordination and budgeting.
Lindsey received her bachelor’s degree from Eastern New Mexico University where she was a member of the rodeo team and a College National Finals Rodeo qualifier.
