Three additional Halter winners were crowned this afternoon at the 2015 AQHA World Championship Show. First, Richard Donnelly led Lawless Luci to a win in Amateur 2-Year-Old Mares. The Reserve Champion was Rose Bode with Got My Sass On; this team was also the Level 2 champion pair. Third place was Robin Klover with She’s Keepin Secrets. Fourth place was Scott Trahan with Pass Da Pepper. Fifth was Kathleen Williams with Ladies N Lace.
In the Amateur 3-Year-Old Mares, Jeff Habighorst led Miss Kittee to a win. The Reserve Champion was Sarah Headley with Alluring Intention. Third was Thomas Coon with Dream Big Dreams. Fourth was JJ Caldwell-Tyson with Hollies Secret. Fifth place was Vern Habighorst with Guns and Lace.
“Kittee” has been part of the Habighorst barn family for quite some time. With an early win with Jeff at the Iowa Breeders’ Futurity as a yearling, she’s gone on to win multiple World and Congress Champion titles throughout her career. The three-year-old sorrel mare was bred by Luke and Abbi Castle and is by Western Gunslinger and out of Lady Is Irresistible.
“She’s always been my favorite,” Jeff says. “She’s kind of the underdog. We call her the prom queen because, when you look at the mare in the stall, she looks good, but when you bring her out and get her all ready, she goes from 80% to 100%. She is one of those show mares. She’s so much fun to show, because she gives you 100%, if you can just keep her in line.”
Kittee doesn’t have any offspring at the moment, but the Habighorst family is looking forward to an embryo in 2016 by Secret Agent.
Finally, in the last Halter class of the day, Frank Berris led his gelding, It’s Gameday, to a win in Amateur Three-Year-Old Geldings. This marks the fifth World title and sixth Congress title for It’s Gameday. The Reserve Champion was Josh Weakly with Be A Gunslinger. Third place was Douglas Ronk with Ima Cool Catch. Fourth place was Robin Robinett with Kids Classic Secret. Fifth place was Amy Britton with FG El Vis.
