66th National Appaloosa Horse Show and 2013 World Championship Appaloosa Youth Show Takes Place This Week in Texas

Competition at the 66th National Appaloosa Horse Show and 2013 World Championship Appaloosa Youth Show began yesterday at the Will Rogers Equestrian Center in Fort Worth, TX. The ApHC Youth World Show will continue through July 6th, overlapping with the Youth AjPHA World Show scheduled to begin this weekend.

While the Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHC) is in town, the Appaloosa Youth Association (AYA) will host a plethora of fun activities for everyone to enjoy.

AjPHA & ApHC invite all young horse judges to compete in its annual Youth World Show Judging Contest, held in conjunction with the AjPHA Youth World Championship Paint Horse Show and the World Championship Appaloosa Youth Show. Individuals and teams can compete in two age divisions (13 & Under and 14-19). Top individuals and teams take home great awards! Clickhere for official rules and contest entry form.

Receive hands-on instruction from industry professionals in preparation for your World Show experience. APHA & ApHC Professionals will assist youth participants with feedback and helpful hints for horsemanship, equitation, and showmanship. Space is Limited to the first 25 youth. The entry fee for the BOOT CAMP is $50. Applicants must be entered in the 2013 AjPHA Youth World Show or ApHC World Championship Appaloosa Youth Show to be eligible for this camp. Participants will be entered into a drawing for a $500 scholarship sponsored by Hart Trailers. Click here for information and an application.

The Stick Horse Rodeo is open to all youth 13 and under. This fun event gives little buckaroos the opportunity to select their mounts and compete for cool prizes in rope and barrel races, dummy roping and more! This event is free, so be sure to sign up at the National Show Office in the Will Rogers Equestrian Center!

Educational Scholarships are available to AYA members in high school seeking an equine-related degree in an institution of higher learning. The Appaloosa Youth Foundation annually offers up to $9,000 in scholarships.

Annual Youth Contests allow AYA members to compete for various awards and prizes. Whether your talent lies in drawing and painting, photography or in writing-the AYA has a contest for everyone!

Championship Dog Races! ApHC and APHA are putting their dogs to the test and showing off their arena work. Even if your dog is not competing, this will be a great event to watch and cheer on the competitors! Come enjoy this exhibition event between your classes. It’s a great event for spectators and you can win some fantastic prizes for your favorite canine friend! June 30 – John Justin Arena, estimated time: 12:15 p.m. and July 3 – John Justin Arena, estimated time: 3:15 p.m.
