$230,000 Worth of New Footing For Equine Activities at Florida State Fair

The Florida State Fair is excited to invite equestrians to DISCOVER THE FUN at the 2014 Florida State Fair, February 6-17. There is a special equine activity planned for every day of the fair inside the Bob Thomas Equestrian Center. Also, on February 12th and 13th, come check out the Ranch Rodeo in the Charlie Lykes Arena.

• Thursday/Friday Feb 6-7- Draft Horse Show featuring six Horse Hitch competition
• Sunday, Feb. 9th- Appaloosa Horse Show
• Monday-Friday Feb. 10-15– Mounted Police Training and demonstrations
• Wednesday, Feb 11– Draft Horse State Championship Pull Competition
• Thursday/Friday, Feb. 13-14– AMHA/AMHR Miniature Horse Show
• Friday/Saturday, Feb. 14-15– NMDA/NASMA Donkey & Mule Show
• Saturday/Sunday, Feb. 15-16– Paso Fino Horse Show
• Sunday, Feb. 16- All Florida Mounted Drill Team Competition

State-of-the-art all-weather footing has been installed in the Grand Prix Arena at the Bob Thomas Equestrian Center. The footing is a mixture of crushed granite, silica sand, and the newest blend of fiber to ensure the almost immediate dissolution of water and rain. It also insures safe, non-slip footing for optimum performances by the competitors. The Equestrian Center is one of a few in Florida to offer such high-caliber footing. The cost of the project was $230,000.
