2023 AQHA World Show Monday Winners – November 13th
Laina Banks with her big fan club after winning the Select Western Riding for the fifth time!
The first class of the morning on Monday, November 13th, the Ranch Trail (an original class of 102), wasn’t complete until the run off to break a tie took place between Lets Double Down with Clayton Jerrell and Bud Lyon with Gunner Got Out.
When the dust settled, Bud Lyon with Gunner Got Out for Lynn Walker were crowned World Champions! They broke the record for the Ranch Trail score set by Bud last year- now a 238.5!
“At the time I purchased him, I had a broken leg and the day he came home, I was still on the walker. But he loves Ranch Trail, I love Ranch Trail,” Lynn explains. “He’s an awesome guy – he’s so willing.” This year they’ve only done Ranch Trail, but he has an open and an amateur superior in Ranch Riding and Ranch Trail, and they’re just a few points from his Amateur Championship, a goal they plan on completing.
“He deserves that,” explains Lynn. Her advice for others thinking of getting into the division, she says, involves “Just patience, repetition and strategy. Every class is different even if it’s the same pattern set in a different arena, and sometimes you have to re-plan your pattern.”
As far as Bud’s success at this show, especially with Gunner Got Out, Lynn describes it as “Simply Awesomeness.”
