The Western Canadian Paint Horse Championship will once again light up the Zone 10 show, which takes place August 4–7 in Ponoka, Alberta, Canada.
Exhibitors in 15 specially selected classes will compete to take home custom Gist Silversmiths trophy buckles; 2nd through 6th place earners receive medallions courtesy of APHA.
Although any APHA exhibitor may enter the zone show’s classes, Paint Horse Championship classes are restricted to those residing within Zone 10, which consists of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and the Yukon and Northwest Territories. Additionally, horses and exhibitors could not have placed in the Top Five in a halter class or Top 10 in a performance class at the APHA or AjPHA World Championship Shows in the past five years. “We are thrilled that APHA is again offering Paint Horse Championship classes at participating Zone shows,” Zone 10 Committee President Ronni Nordal said. “This year, we have chosen a variety of classes to be showcased as Western Canadian Championship classes. The classes have been distributed throughout the various divisions, and we believe almost every eligible exhibitor will have an opportunity to compete for the beautiful awards. We are making plans to have the Western Canadian Championship awards as a prestigious part of the show and very much appreciate APHA’s sponsorship of this program.”
