2016 Summer Celebration QH Show Offers New Ranch Horse & Walk Trot Classes – Plus Ranch Horse Clinic
WHAT: 2016 Summer Celebration Quarter Horse Show
WHEN: June 29 – July 2
WHERE: Murieta Equestrian Center in Rancho Murieta, CA.
WHY: Now celebrating its eleventh year, the Summer Celebration Quarter Horse Circuit is a favorite destination for Quarter Horse competitors on the West Coast with a full slate of Western, English, and cattle classes. This much anticipated stop on the summer Quarter Horse show schedule is a great match for exhibitors hunting points, cool awards, and fun parties. This year, the fun starts early with the show starting Wednesday through Saturday, June 29-July 2, 2016.
Due to the high demand for ranch horse classes at this show, Ranch Horse Conformation and Ranch Trail have been added for youth, amateur and open exhibitors. In addition, a Ranch Horse clinic is slated for Friday, taught by AQHA Team Wrangler Professional Horseman, Marty Simper. The Ranch Horse clinic is free to all PCQHA members, or $35 for non-members. Also new are walk trot/jog classes for both Western and English exhibitors in the youth and amateur divisions. Walk trot/jog classes include Western Pleasure, Western Horsemanship, Hunter Under Saddle, and Hunt Seat Equitation.
Judges for the 2016 show are: April Devitt, Casey Devitt, Tony Burris, David Avery, Tom McBeath, and Wilma Holcomb. According to Show Chairperson Cece Campbell, “PCQHA membership is required for all awards, including circuits and all-arounds.Additionally, there is a stall discount for PCQHA members.” Heading into 2016, the Summer Celebration Quarter Horse Show is in a class all its own, both in the minds of spectators and exhibitors. As always, Summer Celebration offers the coolest prizes for exhibitors, including PCQHA custom director’s chairs for class circuit champions and beautiful ARC awards for all-arounds.
Once again, the Summer Celebration 4 and 5 year-old Working Cowhorse Derby is planned. This $1,000 added Derby will run concurrent with Junior Working Cowhorse and Cutting and is sponsored by Murieta Equestrian Center. Prizes, money and silver buckles go to the winner.
In addition, family and friends of Rod Wiemers will offer the coveted Rod Wiemers Memorial Buckle. This special award is given to the horse and rider with the highest single Fence Work score of the show. The Rod Wiemers Memorial Buckle honors the life and career of Rod Wiemers, who gave his life to the challenging Working Cowhorse arena.
