This year’s Buckeye Classic was a record-breaking event giving away $60,000 in free youth and amateur entries to competitors who came from over 30 states as well as Canada and Australia. For the past two years, the show has made AQHA’s list of Top 10 shows and will undoubtedly rise in the standings with the more than 13,000 entries it racked up this year.
Because of the incredible growth, the event has already begun planning for next year. “We had the great challenge of finding more space for our ever-growing event,” says Show Manager Justin Billings. “We exceeded capacity at our current venue and have been working on a solution that will continue to serve the needs of our exhibitors. It’s of paramount importance that we keep their best interests at heart, which led us to Roberts Arena in Wilmington, Ohio. They have recently undergone a multi-million dollar renovation with plans for much more in the future.”
A few of the exciting things to expect at the 2016 Buckeye Classic, which will be held July 15-24, include three new barns that will raise the number of permanent stalls to 1,000, 20+ luxury onsite cabins, the largest indoor arena in the country, a day spa, complimentary wi-fi, a business center, and the Gaga Kids Playground. Still in the planning stages is a RV Park, which will increase the total number of campsites to 300, five new outdoor arenas, and an onsite hotel/bed and breakfast.
