The countdown continues to the 35th anniversary of the Tom Powers Futurity, which is scheduled for June 25-28 in Berrien Springs, Michigan. Judges for the Futurity will be Jon Barry, Steve Meadows, Jonathan Meilleur, and Randy Wilson.
One of the main events at the show is the Futurity Stakes Sale. This auction of yearling prospects will determine those horses that will be eligible for the Tom Powers Sale Stakes in 2016. This year’s sale includes 76 horses ranging from Hip #1- Shez The Good Kind, a bay filly by Zippos Mr Good Bar and out of The Good Kind, to Hip #76- Huntin Sweet Spices, a gray filly by Huntin For Chocolate and out of Sweet Talkin Spice.
Stallions represented in the sale include Zippos Mr Good Bar, Huntin For Chocolate, Nite Moves, RL Best of Sudden, Batt Man, Lazy Loper, Blazing Hot, Im A Platinum Dream, Getting Impulsive, VS Code Red, VS Flatline, HH Red Rock, Only Intuition, Machine Made, Diesel Only, Certain Potential, Im Good Undressed, Keeping It Good, and more.
The gross sales from the 2014 sale topped out at $894,450 with a sale average of $10,907 and a high seller of $74,000. The top 5 sale average was $45,400, and the top 10 sale average was $33,650.
