The 2015 World Wide Paint Horse Congress kicked off yesterday to a big crowd in Tulsa, OK. The first four-judge Paint-O-Rama of the Paint Congress began with Halter, Showmanship, and Western Riding classes to the first set of judges: Clint Fullerton, Garth Gooding, Sonnesa Gooding, and Tom Robertson.
Check out some of the class sizes from Day 1.
The show continues today with Longe Line, Hunter Under Saddle, Equitation, Western Pleasure, Horsemanship, Ranch Horse Pleasure, and Reining. With the show’s unique “Show to 8, Pay For 4” option, competitors who show under the first set of judges can show under the second set with NO ENTRY FEES, as long as they compete in same number of (or more) classes. (Office charges and NSBA fees will apply for all eight judges.) The second POR will be judged by Mark Baus, Larry Hansch, Chris Jeter, and Rhonda Replogle.
But that’s not all! Yesterday and today, the Green Country Paint Horse Club is hosting a two-day APHA show over in the Mustang Arena. That’s great for those competitors trying to finish up APHA World Show qualifying because the Paint Horse Congress and GCPHC show will count as separate shows. That’s four qualifying events at one location!
Other exciting additions to the schedule include NSBA dual approved classes, Get of Sire and Produce of Dam Halter classes, Lynn Simons Memorial Halter Futurity/WCHA-approved classes, and the highly anticipated Beth Buechler Limited Series. The Beth Buechler Limited Series will take place on Saturday following the conclusion of Showmanship classes and will include seven limited horse/limited rider classes.
Some of the incredible prizes to be awarded during the series include Phil Harris work saddles, a Pessoa English Saddle, an Elite Western Saddle, trophies, neck ribbons, and amazing gifts from class sponsors like a Showmark Deluxe Bridle, Show & Tell Saddle Blankets, Cowboy Couture saddle racks, buckle boxes, hat gift certificates, a 1/2 price breeding to APHA stallion John Simon, and much more.
In order to participate in these classes, exhibitors and horses cannot have won an APHA, AQHA, Quarter Horse Congress, ApHC World or Reserve World Championship during the past five years in the discipline they choose to show in. Also, horses cannot have won more than $2,500 or more as of January 1, 2015. A limited non pro rider’s lifetime NSBA earnings cannot exceed $5,000, and an open limited rider’s lifetime NSBA earnings cannot exceed $15,000.
