2015 Jerry Wells Memorial Halter Futurity Wrap Up & Complete Results

The seventh annual Jerry Wells Memorial Scholarship Halter Futurity for Quarter Horses was held on Saturday, May 30th, as a special World Conformation Horse Association event during the prestigious Oklahoma Quarter Horse Association’s annual Redbud Spectacular Horse Show at the State Fairgrounds Arena in Oklahoma City.

Presenting sponsors were long-time halter enthusiasts and multiple World Championship-earners, Steve and Kathy Headley, of Bloomington, Indiana, who generously donated $15,000.

Any WCHA show requires certified WCHA judges. This year, the WCHA judge was Jeri Harmon of Decatur, Mississippi.

After the classes for Yearling Stallions, Geldings, and Fillies were completed, the first place winners of each class returned to the arena to be judged for Best of Show. Two other WCHA judges, Wayne Halvorson and Jason Smith, were selected from the audience to place the top three for Best of Show. The winner received a special trophy and a check for $1,000. Kathy Williams with Intended Too won the Best of Show award. The 2014 mare is by My Intention and out of BBS Prissy Girl, by Mr Preclusive.

The Champion and Reserve Champions in each class were presented with trophies and Jerry Wells memorial medallions. Champions were also presented with WCHA Champion halters.The Futurity had 19 horses this year, which resulted in 35 entries. $1,500 was added to the Limited Open division. $2,000 was added to the Non-Pro division. $1,000 was added to the Open Youth division. $500 was added to Select Amateur and Limited Youth divisions.
