For AQHA Trophy Western Team champions Ohio State University, and coaches Ollie and Debbie Griffith, it marked OSU’s 10th IHSA national team title and struck a personal chord. Their son, and defending AQHA High Point Rider, Austin Griffith, won the National Reining Horse Association Open Reining title and was Reserve overall in AQHA High Point Rider standings.

Kelsey Kafesjian of Bluffdale, Utah, was the Farnam Breeders’ Trust Novice Youth Scholarship winner. Kelsey is an 18-year-old high school senior with plans to attend Colorado State University in the fall. She earned her points toward the Farnam Breeders’ Trust Youth Scholarship riding Tramps Invitation, a 2008 bay tobiano mare by Special Invitation out of Ravishing Tramp who is nominated to the Breeders’ Trust.
