If you’re at the 2014 Tar Heel Triple Classic in Raleigh, North Carolina this morning, you’ve probably already run into Mr. Gordon Downey, who is circulating the show grounds making his annual delivery of Krispy Kreme doughnuts to show staff and exhibitors. The 10th anniversary of the TTC kicked off in banner style over the weekend with the NCQHYA Show, June 12-15 with excellent numbers like 10 in Amateur Performance Geldings, 12 in L1 Amateur Showmanship, 15 in 14-18 Showmanship, 17 in L1 Hunter Under Saddle, 22 in L1 Amateur Western Pleasure, 24 in L1 Western Pleasure, 27 in Junior Western Pleasure, and 30 in Senior Western Pleasure.
Impressive performances in some of the largest classes of the weekend resulted in top honors for Lauren Diaz with Promotional Asset and Cydney Benes with Rockin Rasinette in 14-18 Showmanship; Tim Zuidema with The Cape Crusader and Rusty Green with Rock County Kid in L1 Western Pleasure; Rusty Green with Only A Breeze and Cleve Wells with Cool Poco Dot in Junior Western Pleasure; Hillary Roberts with Whatscookngoodlookin and Deanna Green with Bestseatinthehouse in 14-18 Western Pleasure; Karen Hornick and A Certain Vino in Senior Western Pleasure; Susan Roberts with Only A Breeze in Select Western Pleasure; and Dawn Baker with The Roan Bone in L1 Hunter Under Saddle.

NCQHA Jamboree and “No Bling” Novice/Rookie Show

As the 10th Anniversary of the Tar Heel Triple Classic celebration continues, the NCQHA Jamboree will run June 18-21, 2014 at the Hunt Horse Complex in Raleigh, N.C. The show offers a full slate of AQHA classes for Open, Amateur, and Youth competitors. Judges include Betsy Tuckey, Tracy Willis, Holly Hover, Sissy Anderson, John Lawrence and Andrea Simons. The Little Futurity Reining classes will run concurrently with the Jamboree Reining classes on Wednesday June 18th. The NCQHYA Youth will hold an ice cream social on Wednesday too!
Cattle classes, Working Cow Horse, Boxing, Tie-Down Roping, Breakaway Roping, and Team Roping will return to the beautiful 11 Bar East Ranch on Friday, June 20th beginning at 5:00 pm with judges Tracy Willis, Holly Hover and Betsy Tuckey. The same classes continue on Saturday, June 21st at 10:00 am with judges Mike Jennings, Steve Lackey and Carla Wennberg. Also on Saturday, a cattle special event will start at 3:00 pm with judge Tony Burris. The Champion Rope Horse this year will receive a custom saddle from Caliente Trophy Saddles, courtesy of Larry and Gale Little, Jack Brizendine, and Dale Tingle.
New this year is a “No Bling” Novice/Rookie Show on Sunday, June 22nd. NCQHA, the Little Futurity, and everyone involved with the Tar Heel Triple Classic is excited to offer so many wonderful showing opportunities for our exhibitors this year. We want to take this time to say thank you to everyone that participated or plans to participate in our 10th Anniversary celebration. We’re already looking forward to next year!
