When a new show season begins, competitors and trainers look to the first events of the year to serve as indicators of the current health and vitality of the horse industry. If Fox Lea Farm’s Winter Circuit is to provide any prediction for the remainder of 2014, the future is certainly looking bright.
Taking place January 7-12 in Venice, Florida, the show saw an increase in entries that nearly doubled those of last year’s event. With more than 5,200 total entries across all divisions, the circuit was deemed a huge success by show management, by those who attended, and by those who wished they’d made the trip down south.
The show offered six sets of points over the course of the six day event with Dawn Clason, Bruce Brown, Curtis Reynolds, Robin Frid, Chris Jones, and Murray Griggs judging. New management, in the form of Mark Harrell Horse Shows, a new schedule, $7,500 in NSBA classes, and the much anticipated debut of National Quarter Horse League Huntfield classes are just a few of the features credited for the great turnout.
Click on the following below to read last week’s interview with Huntfield’s Kim Farrell about the debut of the NQHL speciality classes. Thinking Outside of the Box: National Quarter Horse League Classes Debut This Weekend in Florida.
When speaking about this year’s show, Farrell commented on the combined efforts of many different parties that must blend seamlessly to create a successful event.
“Synergy is the term to describe this year’s Fox Lea Farm Winter Circuit,” Kim Farrell says. “Synergy (per Merriam –Webster Dictionary) is the increased effectiveness that results when two or more people or businesses work together. Fox Lea Farm, Mark Harrell Horse Shows, and the support of the exhibitors have created a wonderful Quarter Horse Circuit that all seem to be enjoying. Fox Lea Farm and Mark Harrell Horse Shows is very appreciative of the support we have received from everyone making this circuit stronger than ever.”
“Many companies, exhibitors, and farms have sponsored Highpoint saddles, Highpoint bridles, circuit awards, NSBA classes, and the show in general. Fox Lea Farm graciously thanks all involved with this circuit. Thank you for positioning us to do what we love to do: produce quality, fun shows for the exhibitors!”
Mark Harrell Horse Shows has generously provided us with complete results from the show, as well as circuit and Highpoint standings. Results from the National Quarter Horse League classes will be posted shortly.
