2014 AQHA Adequan Select World Show All-Around Results

During the last week, the Farnam Select All-Around Amateur contenders competed in a variety of events throughout the American Quarter Horse Association’s 2014 Adequan Select World Championship Show. This year, 69 contenders competed for the Farnam Select All-Around Amateur award.

For the second year in a row, the Farnam Select All-Around Amateur is Linda Coakley of Clearlake, Washington. Coakley showed Patsys Royal Secret, who is a 2000 brown gelding. Patsys Royal Secret, who is by Make My Grey and out of Patsys Chic, was bred by Patricia Sowell of Sacramento, California. Coakley and Patsys Royal Secret earned 49 points in three classes, winning reserve world champion titles in showmanship, horsemanship and hunt seat equitation.

Coakley and Patsys Royal Secret receive a prize package that included $10,000, plus $1,000 of Farnam product, an original Lisa Perry bronze, an embroidered WeatherBeeta horse blanket and a rose bouquet.

The 2014 Farnam Select Reserve all-around amateur is Karen Miller Bruce of Lewisville, North Carolina. Bruce showed her homebred American Quarter Horse Out Of Vogue. Out Of Vogue is a 2008 buckskin gelding by Thedreams ComeTrue (TB) and out of Comic Story by Free ASA Eagle (TB). Bruce and Out Of Vogue earned 37 points in three classes. They were the world champions in hunter hack and equitation over fences and the reserve world champions in working hunter. Bruce and Out Of Vogue receive a prize package of $2,500, plus $500 in Farnam product and a silver bowl.

The third-place Farnam Select all-around amateur is Jim Bound of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. Bound showed his American Quarter Horse Bound To Whiz, who is by Who Whiz It and out of Not Dun Cookin by Smart Peppy Lena. The 2005 red dun gelding was bred by Lisa Lubbert of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. Bound and Bound To Whiz earned 32 points in four classes. They earned the world champion title in breakaway roping, reserve world champion title in tie-down roping, placed fourth in the stake race and ninth in heeling.

The fourth-place Farnam Select all-around amateur is Farley Barbera of Southern Pines, North Carolina. Barbera showed her American Quarter Horse Hot Jazzin Zippo, a 1995 sorrel gelding by Sonnys Hot Jazz and out of Make Mine A Zippo. Barbera and Hot Jazzin Zippo earned 31 points in three classes, placing fifth in horsemanship and trail, and sixth in showmanship.

The fifth-place Farnam Select all-around amateur is Shelley Nuhn Shepherd of Riverside, California. Shepherd showed her American Quarter Horse Must Be A Detail, a 2002 bay gelding by Last Detail and out of Miss Boogie Bear (TB). Shepherd and Must Be A Detail earned 31 points in three classes, earning the reserve world champion title in pleasure driving, third place in hunt seat equitation and fifth place in hunter under saddle.

All-around amateur third through fifth place receive a prize package that includes $1,000, plus $250 in Farnam product.

The 2014 Gene Graves Super-Select Special Recognition Award was presented to the Super-Select exhibitor, age 70 and over, earning the greatest number of points in competition at this year’s show. This year, 71 exhibitors qualified to compete for the award.

The recipient of the Gene Graves Super-Select Award is Rodger Call of Fort Worth, Texas. Call showed his American Quarter Horse Go Big Sky, who was bred by Melissa Cason of Bigfork, Montana. The 2001 gray gelding is by Skys Blue Boy and out of Marks Favorite (TB). Call and Go Big Sky earned a total of 16 points, winning the world champion title in pleasure driving and placing seventh in working hunter.
