University of Findlay to Offer Virtual Online Tours For Prospective Students

Filed under: Health & Training |

University of Findlay is taking a new approach to showing our gorgeous campus and unique programs to prospective students. Due to the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the University doesn’t have the ability to conduct regular, on campus visits. To continue providing prospective students important information about campus, excellent programs available, and more, UF will conduct the annual Animal Science, Pre-Veterinary Medicine, Western Equestrian, and English Equestrian visit days virtually. Shawn Jordan, director of undergraduate and transfer admissions, said that the goal is to, “continue to provide potential students and their families valuable information about UF.”

Meredith Marsh, riding instructor in the western riding program, director of equestrian studies, and equine management, explains that during the Western and English Equestrian Program virtual visits, “prospective students will learn what makes being a Findlay equestrian such a unique and incredible experience. The directors will talk about what we do year-by-year in the riding programs, go over the equine science-based curriculum, talk about team activities, and discuss the many opportunities available to equestrians, both on and off campus.”

For those tuning-in for the Animal Science and Pre-Veterinary Program virtual tours, Dr. Brandon Forshey, director of pre-veterinary studies, assistant professor of animal studies, and assistant professor of pre-veterinary studies, said, “students will learn specifics about all three areas in the Animal Science Department,” and hear from current directors and faculty members.

The virtual visits will also include a panel of current students who will answer questions about the Findlay Animal Science, Pre-Veterinary, and Equestrian programs and their experiences. A virtual tour will allow potential students to explore the amazing farms and all of the resources Findlay has to offer. “We hope that by the end of the virtual visit day, students will have a better understanding of the faculty support, the student camaraderie, and the outstanding facilities that make the UF community so special,” said Marsh.

The virtual visits highlighting the unique programs located at our campus farms will be held April 17 with the following schedule:

  • Animal Science/Pre-Veterinary at 10 a.m. with Dr. Forshey, assistant professor of animal science and director of pre-veterinary medicine
  • Western Equestrian at 12 p.m. with Meredith Marsh, riding instructor in the western riding program, director of equestrian studies, and equine management, and Art O’Brien, riding instructor and director of western riding program
  • English Equestrian at 3 p.m. with Meredith Marsh riding instructor in the western riding program, director of equestrian studies, and equine management, and Rusty Miller, riding instructor in the English riding program

In addition to these program specific virtual visits, daily Zoom information sessions with admissions counselors are also available at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. These daily visits, “will include a counselor presentation, followed by a Q and A, and directions to our virtual tours,” said Jordan. “The group activities will be very similar with some faculty interaction and additional virtual tour options.” He explained that the daily sessions are, “intended to be individualized to each visitor,” so each perspective student gets the best information relative to their interests.

Visitors can sign up electronically by visiting our website HERE and selecting their day of preference or program of interest listed on the page. Need some more information?
