Two unanimous winners were crowned during the last two events of the evening at the 2014 All American Quarter Horse Congress. First up, Rebekah Kazakevicius rode Not Just Anyhoo to a unanimous win in the 2-Year-Old Non Pro Limited Hunter Under Saddle. The Reserve Champion in the class was Kristin Martin with Yeah I Will. Third place was Lindsey Gillette with Kat Tails R Hot.
Kazakevicius’s gelding is by Hot Ones Only and out of Skys Strawberry. Recently, the pair claimed three titles at the NSBA World Championship Show as well as one in the open division with trainer Beth Case. Just yesterday, Case was in the irons for a Reserve Champion finish in the NSBA Two-Year-Old Open Hunter Under Saddle Stakes.
After the success they’ve found at their first two shows of the season, Kazakevicius has big plans for Not Just Anyhoo to be her 3-year-old Hunter Under Saddle horse for next year and, later on, her Amateur Hunter Under Saddle partner.
“He has a great feel, and he is a really good trotter,” she says. “He extends forward on his own.”
The second unanimous winner of the evening came in the 3-Year-Old Open Western Pleasure Limited Futurity with Andy Cochran and Suddenly Extreme. The purchase made last November from the barn of fellow trainer, Carl Yamber, proved to be a great decision for Cochran and owner Ruth Marie Rowe.
“We worked on him through the winter, started showing him in all the novice stuff this summer, and he really came on,” Cochran says. “We won the Waco Futurity, were second at the Larry Little Futurity, won the Three-Year-Old Open and Three-Year-Old Novice Horse at the Tom Powers Futurity, won the Novice Three-Year-Old at the NSBA World, were second in the BCF, and third in Open Three-Year-Old.”
If you couldn’t guess from taking a look at “Carl,” with his chiseled conformation and clean musculature, he is in fact a stallion. Although Cochran doesn’t yet know if a breeding career will be in this animal’s future, he feels it’s a definite possibility, especially because of his easy-going temperament and flowing movement.
“He has a lot of rhythm, cadence, and a lot of lift,” Cochran says. “He is a horse with a lot of presence.”
Cochran has a previous Congress Champion title from 2005, but he has never before been the unanimous choice of the Congress judges. We would like to congratulate him on this extraordinary accomplishment!
