Tuesday evening at WEC – Ocala was the setting for the $25,000 NSBA 3 & Over Maiden Horse Hunter Under Saddle at A Sudden Impulse!
When the final placings were called, the champion was Ultimate Permission with Dawn Baker for Stacey Stinson.
In our winners’ interview with trainer Dawn Baker of Baker Futurity Horses and owner Stacey Stinson, they reveal that “Chaz” is a full sibling to Stacey’s senior horse and world champion Without Permission! Earlier in the day, Dawn and Without Permission had earned a Reserve Championship in the NSBA Maturity Open Hunter Under Saddle.
Dawn says Chaz has been great, and Gaven (Young) has done an amazing job with him. “He has worked hard with him, and Chaz showed great. He’s very willing, and you don’t have to work him real hard because it’s easy for him. When it’s easy for them, it makes it 10 times better.”
Stacey adds that she’s thrilled, not only because of his success, but because this is the first time she has actually seen Chaz! “I bought him off a video, and this is the first time I’ve seen him dressed up and at a horse show. He’s my big horse’s little brother, and it’s so exciting.”
How do they feel about showing at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala? “It’s like Disneyland for horses and for people,” says Dawn.
The team is staying at the RV park at WEC, also the best RV park, and Stacey adds, “I wish all the shows were here – we like to have dinner and drinks at The Yellow Pony.”
When asked if they are planning on showing at the majors this year, Stacey says, “Of course!” “Absolutely,” Dawn chimes in. “We’re not stopping now!”
We look forward to watching more of this team! Congratulations!
