2021 EMO WESTERN STATES CHAMPIONSHIP ELIGIBILITY RULES

In order encourage participation by local horses and exhibitors who do not generally attend AQHA World Championship shows, certain exhibitors and horses which have had success at the World Championship shows in theL3 classes will not be eligible for the EMO Championship classes, as described below:

If a horse has placed first, second or third in a class at any AQHA World Championship Show (AQHA, AQHYA, Select) or placed first, second or third in a class at any world championship or national championship in any equine organization or association with a membership of more than 7,500 members in the prior 5 years (2016-2020) such horse cannot show at the EMO Western States Championship in the corresponding open, amateur or youth classes. For example, if a horse won the youth western riding at the AQHYA World Championship show in 2016, such horse cannot be show in open, amateur or youth western riding classes at the EMO Western States Championship ridden by any exhibitor.

If an amateur or youth exhibitor has placed first, second or third in a class at any AQHA World Championship Show (AQHA, AQHYA, Select) or placed first, second or third in a class at any world championship or national championship in any equine organization or association with a membership of more than 7,500 members in the prior 5 years (2016-2020) such exhibitor cannot show at the EMO Western States Championship in the corresponding amateur or youth classes. For example, if an amateur placed third in hunter under saddle at the AQHA Select World in 2016, such amateur cannot show in amateur or select amateur hunter under saddle at the EMO Western States Championship on any horse.

Exhibitors who have placed first, second or third in a class at an AQHA World Championship Show (AQHA, AQHYA or Select) or placed first, second or third in a class at any world championship or national championship in any equine organization or association with a membership of more than 7,500 members in the prior 5 years (2016-2020) may show in the corresponding open class at the EMO Western States Championship, but only on a horse which is not ineligible under 1 above.

If a horse places first, second or third at an AQHA World Championship Show (AQHA, AQHYA, Select) or placed first, second or third in a class at any world championship or national championship in any equine organization or association with a membership of more than 7,500 members after the end of the qualifying period, the horse is not eligible to show at the EMO Western States Championship in the corresponding class, regardless of what date the horse met the qualifying requirements for the EMO Western States Championship.

If a youth or amateur exhibitor places first, second or third at an AQHA World Championship Show (AQHA, AQHYA, Select) or placed first, second or third in a class at any world championship or national championship in any equine organization or association with a membership of more than 7,500 members after the end of the qualifying period, the exhibitor is not eligible to show at the EMO Western States Championship in the corresponding youth or amateur classes regardless of what date the exhibitor met the qualifying requirements for the EMO Western States Championship.

An exhibitor must be a member of a state affiliate to enter and show in the EMO Western States Championship.

Owners of horses entered in the  EMO Western States Championship must pay all entry, stall, drug and other fees to be charged by the Western States Championship or Celebration Circuit.

To encourage as much participation as possible, Championship classes may be entered until 5 pm the day prior to the class. FOR ALL OTHER CLASSES the entry deadline is June 18, 2021 to avoid a late fee.
