A number of deserving World Champions were crowned in today’s Amateur Halter classes. First, Amanda Wallinger-Rowan led Yes Mam to win Amateur Weanling Geldings.
“Mule” is by Amanda’s family’s stallion, Acoolest Touchdown, and out of a My Intention mare. Earlier this year at the Select World Show, Amanda’s father showed the weanling to be named the Reserve Champion. He was also the Reserve Open Weanling Gelding Champion at the Iowa Breeders Halter Futurity.
“It’s a funny story about why he’s named Mule,” Amanda says. “When he was born, my dad was out in the barn. The foal was only two minutes old when he stood up, turned around, and mule-kicked my dad. So, Dad said he was going to name him Mule!”
“His personality is definitely like his dad. He’s full of himself. He goes out there and shows like a million bucks. He’s fun. I say he’s like my spirit animal because he just eats and sleeps. He has a job to do, and he doesn’t want to be touched. He definitely has the same conformation and balance that his dad has. He has a great head and expression. He’s a cool horse.”
Coming up, Mule will be showed by trainer, Chris Arentsen, in the open division.
The Reserve Champion was Elizabeth Thompson-Beauchamp with The Gronkoswki. Third was Nancy Dyer with Eskape. Fourth was Thomas Coon with Coolest Entent. Fifth was Joy Stehney with E Ventually.
Nancy Dyer led Secret Entention to win Amateur Weanling Fillies. Julie Smith and Bittersweett were the Reserve World Champions. Third was Sarah Headley with Rumerz R Flyin Bae. Fourth was Carolyn Mcgaughey with FG A Very Cool Charm. Fifth was Dr. Shelley Grissom with Ecredibility.
Nancy’s filly, “Kathy,” has had quite the year winning the Big Money Futurity at the APHA World Show, Amateur Weanling Fillies and the Amateur Elite Futurity at the Congress, and the Elite Open Futurity and a Reserve Championship in Open Weanling Fillies at the Congress. She’s by Nancy’s stallion, Ententions.
“This was his very first baby born, and so now he’s a World Champion producer with his first baby,” Nancy says. “That’s really cool.”
“P2” also has several other babies competing here at the World Show that are from his first foal crop. Nancy led Eskape to a third place finish in Amateur Weanling Geldings. Thomas Coon led Coolest Entent to place fourth in the same class.
“I raised his mother, Obviously Elated, and then I also had his grandmother, Obviously A Tuffy,” so we have the whole family tree.”
Mariah Gibson and Illicit Intention won Amateur Yearling Geldings. The Reserve Champion was Frank Berris with Erratic. Third was Monica Hamm with Misster E Maximum. Fourth was Todd Gralla with Bad An Boujee. Fifth was Beverly Koke with Elusive Pick.
Just a few weeks ago, Steve Ferguson led Illicit Intention to win the Yearling Gelding Elite Halter Futurity for owner, Amy Jo Erhardt. Last year, “Harry,” was also named the Reserve Congress Champion in Open Weanling Geldings and won the Elite Halter Futurity.
