First up this morning, Marcia Lambrecht led Kennar to win the WCHA Owner-Breeder-Exhibitor Weanling Colts and Geldings class. Next, Ross Roark was at the lead of a yearling filly with a name that’s very appropriate for this Thanksgiving season, Say Grace. Ross was showing “Grace” today for owners Billy and Suzonne Franks.

Just the other day, Suzonne showed Grace to a Reserve Championship finish in the Amateur division of the class. “We’re very grateful!” Suzonne says. “That was my first time to show her. I was really excited about the way she showed for me and presented herself. With that tough bunch of fillies, I was really excited about coming out Reserve and then also with Ross showing her today and getting that elusive gold globe!  They’re all outstanding fillies when you get to this point.”

Suzonne believes it’s Grace’s correct conformation that helps her rise to the top in a very competitive group. “She’s very well built and has muscle in all the right places. Her conformation is one of the best we’ve ever seen. Even as as weanling, she was very correct, and that’s why we purchased her.”

In charge of preparing Grace for today’s class was Suzonne’s trainer, Jarrell Jackson. “Our program is nothing without Jarrell and Kate Jackson. They’re team players. They’re the gas behind the wheel. Without them, none of this would be possible.”

Suzonne let us in on a fun fact about Grace. Her registration papers are the first that Craig Huffhines signed when he was named AQHA’s President, so a copy hangs in his office.

The Reserve Champion in Yearling Fillies was Tom Robertson with Baby I’m Worth It. Third was Ted Turner with Mandalae Bay. Fourth was Andy Staton with Squires Famous Doll. Fifth was Tim Finkenbinder with Jeweled.

Ross Roark found himself in the winner’s circle again with Legacee in 2-Year-Old Geldings for owner Josh Weakly. The Reserve Champion was Tim Finkenbinder with Eezy Money. Third place was Ronnie Casper with Mr Bobby Football. Fourth place was Andy Staton with JCG Game On. Fifth was Dewey Smith with Initially A Cool Kid.

Next, Ross Roark led Rumerz to win 3-Year-Old Stallions for owners, Steve and Kathy Headley. The Reserve Champion was Ted Turner with Hez Outa The Box. Third was Luke Castle with Fearles Fortune. Fourth was Buddy Laney with I’m Smokin and Kiddin. Fifth was Jarrell Jackson with Incognito Sirprize.

Waiting...

Waiting is the hardest part.

couplewebFinally, PF Premo entered the pen for the final time in his show career with Dewey Smith at the lead and was named the unanimous World Champion Aged Stallion. It was a very emotional moment for owner, JL Robinson. “It’s something we’ve planned, but you can’t plan the results,” he says. “It’s a blessing to be able to own a horse like that. We’re excited for the breeding program.”

Standing alongside JL in the stands and giving PF Premo a standing ovation were his former owners, Chester and Ann Prince. “Chester and Ann have been part of our lives for a long time, and I was delighted they were here today to be with us. I was pretty confident, but it’s up to the judges, not us. We prepare them, get in there, and show them to the best of our abilities. Then, we take what we get. I was unanimous when I showed, and to have Dewey be unanimous again today was a great way to go out.”

Currently, PF Premo has two foal crops on the ground that have already produced Grand Champion and futurity winners. Both JL Robinson and everyone at Dewey Smith Show Horses are very excited to see what’s next for this promising young sire. Everyone at the World Show is invited to PF Premo’s retirement party this afternoon at 4:30 pm at Dewey Smith’s stalls.
