The International Horse Show will begin tomorrow in Springfield, Illinois and will continue through April 19th offering six sets of points for AQHA competitors. A new schedule for 2014 will allow everyone time to get home for Easter on Sunday!
Judges for the first split/combined show will be Bruce Walquist, Allen Mitchels, and John Briggs. Judges for the second split/combined will be Charlene Carter, Darren Wright, and Shawn Hays.
BIG NEWS! The High Point awards for the show will be full page ads in The Equine Chronicle! Those High Point winners in Open, Amateur, Select, Novice Amateur, Novice Youth, 13 & under, and 14-18 Youth will get to see their faces in the glossy pages of an upcoming edition. In order to qualify for High Point awards, competitors must show in halter classes. High Point awards and circuit awards will be presented to Small Fry competitors as well.
The show begins Thursday, April 17th with western riding, trail, reining, and ranch horse pleasure. On Friday, halter competitors will show to all six judges by tracking once and being inspected twice. Also on Friday, hunter under saddle, equitation, western pleasure, and horsemanship classes will take place. The second round of trail will start after halter and show at will. Saturday’s classes will include showmanship, hunter under saddle, equitation, western pleasure, horsemanship, western riding, reining, and ranch horse pleasure.
