The American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum unveils its new exhibit, “The Bold and Beautiful: Trailblazing Women of the American Quarter Horse,” on January 25.
The exhibit features the history and triumphs of the 12 female Hall of Fame inductees: Nancy Dear, Carol Harris, Ginger Hyland, Mildred Janowitz, Suzanne Jones, Anne Marion, Helen Michaelis, Betty Nix, Harriett Peckham, Carol Rose, Mrs. Fischer E. Simmons and Anne Burnett Tandy.
The exhibit will be on display until July 30.
These women collectively pushed the American Quarter Horse Association along in its fledgling years and helped the breed expand its popularity from coast to coast. Some were breeders, some were owners and competitors, and others were chroniclers and artists who recorded history. All were leaders and visionaries, and each left their mark on the American Quarter Horse. Their efforts opened the doors to others and made it possible for the lifestyle to exist in the industry.
These visionary women embody the elements of grace, beauty and fire. Their hard work and sacrifices contributed to the history and progression of the American Quarter Horse.
The exhibit will include personal artifacts and interactive pieces that bring the 12 women’s stories to life.
